Connected 1 & 2 are for students working at levels 1-3 of the New Zealand Curriculum. The Connected series shows mathematics, science and technology in the context of students’ everyday lives. The stories and articles are designed to appeal to students by reflecting their interests and experiences, expanding their knowledge and understanding, and engaging their imaginations. In 2008, Connected 1 and 2 are combined in one single issue, and the items appear in order of increasing reading and conceptual challenge and have been chosen to reflect the interest of students in years 4-6. The teachers’ notes provide background information for teachers, curriculum links, and ideas for classroom discussion and activities.
