Based on fact, this is a deeply moving story about life in a concentration camp. The women in Belsen know they are soon to be set free. Miriam helps them to make toys from scraps of clothing as gifts for the younger children on their release. The words and pictures show the realities of camp life - the shaven heads, malnutrition, ragged clothes, etc without being too distressing for the students. Overall, a sense of love and caring prevails between the inmates.
