Fifteen year old Mary McKendrick lives with her pioneer family in the isolated settlement of Swag and Tucker Beach. Set in a small beach-mining settlement in wild Westland, in 1887, this is a story of gold, of thieves, and of the gruelling lives of pioneers, and, of course, romance. Although life is hard, there is no shortage of excitement when some gold thieves pay a visit.
