Notes
Katherine Mansfield, New Zealand's most famous writer, departed for Europe when she was nineteen, never to return, yet her most memorable stories capture the innocence and gaiety of her New Zealand childhood. Pictured in this book are the people and places of ‘The Garden Party’ and ‘The Doll’s House’ and many more wonderful stories that were written in a desperate race against death on the other side of the world. Before she left New Zealand, she adventured far and wide in New Zealand and rare photos of that trip are published here. This is a collection of fine pictures of New Zealand at the turn of the century, enhanced by stories and comments in Katherine Mansfield’s Journal.
