Notes
Eleven of Aotearoa’s native birds are depicted in photographs from Te Papa Atawhai (the Department of Conservation). The photograph of the moa is from Te Papa Tongarewa. The simple text introduces each bird by describing one of its most striking characteristics. Nga Kete Korero is a core programme of sequential early readers and support materials designed for children, from emergent to fluency stages who are learning to read Maori. The four levels are Harakeke, Kiekie, Pingao, and Miro, with sublevels indicated by the five vowels in ascending order of difficulty.Contents
