Cooper Riley is sent on a school community project to visit Winnie Smith. Known to all as Winnie The Witch, her home emanates strange screams and an alien light. With Shakespearean overtones (is Winnie looking for Wool of bat and tongue of dog?), the worried Cooper exchanges e-mails with his best mate Danny who is holidaying with his parents around Australia. This story has excitement, pathos and humour and emphasises the importance of the environment.
