The report of a study to identify and evaluate the way in which teachers of Years 1 to 8 students develop teaching programmes from the national achievement objectives of the mathematics curriculum statement; to investigate when and how teachers of Years 1 to 8 students use problem solving as an approach to teach mathematics; identify the extent to which teachers of Years 1 to 8 students use small-group teaching strategies when teaching mathematics, and for what purposes. A discussion guide for schools has been prepared to accompany this report.
