When the new girl arrives at school and is given the empty desk next to max, he is annoyed. He sets out to make life difficult for her in the hope that she will become so unhappy she will move desks. But Penelope is no ordinary girl and Max’s tactics don’t seem to be having any effect on her whatsoever.
