As Gandhi is growing up in India, he becomes aware of how ill-treated many of the Indian people are. After time spent as a lawyer in South Africa, he returns to India. He is determined to win freedom from the British Empire for his country, and to do so without violence. What he achieves has made him one of the great leaders of modern times.
