Fern is a bright, adventurous and brave 10-year-old girl with a special gift; she can talk with animals. She lives with her parents in a tree house situated in a remote New Zealand bay. There is no school. Fern’s life is full of fun, freedom and animals until one day strangers arrive in the bay. Soon Fern finds herself on the run from the terrible Mrs Tucker, helped by her animals friends and a street kid called Jamie.
