Mrs Parata and the Cuckoo

Darroch, Ruth

Darroch, Bob

Notes
The first cuckoo of spring means the whitebait will be running in the river, but first Mrs Parata needs to get some new net. On her trip to town she visits her daughter where all is not well. When Mrs Parata reads a story to her grandchildren, the children learn about the shining cuckoo and how it steals the tomtit’s nest, while Mrs Parata’s son learns about sharing.
