Most children at some stage of their lives lose a close family member or friend. This story is about a child’s experience of a much-loved grandfather, getting old, becoming unwell, and dying. The family’s response to the death reflects New Zealand’s cultural diversity; Pakeha (European), Maori and Pacific beliefs and traditions, as well as interesting personal choices are interwoven into how the family honour and celebrate their grandfather’s life.
