A mythical kingdom centred deep underground is kept alive by the light and heat of mysterious crystals. The family makes their living by mining the crystals and the grandfather has grown wealthy from selling them. But for some reason the crystals are losing their strength and now their father has returned empty handed and badly hurt from mishandling his last search for new crystals in an attempt to find stronger ones. Two teenagers decide to try and find new crystals themselves to save the family honour.
