Number 4 : October-December 1989Creatures of the Deep Ocean POSTER : Creatures of the deep ocean have many bizarre characteristics which equip them to live in conditions of extreme high pressure and pitch darkness. Some emit luminescent flashes when they are attacked; others lure their prey to them with light-emitting ‘baits’; others rely on enormous eyes, mouths and teeths to increase their chances of getting a meal. A number of these fascinating but little understood creatures are presented in the free poster accompanying this issue. Illustration by Dave Gunson.
