Lost in the Bush : keeping yourself safe in New Zealand’s great outdoors

Kelly, Lindy

Whimp, Pauline

Notes
Would you know what to do if you were lost in the bush. This book uses a story to help introduce factual information about bushcraft. The author, with the help of New Zealand Land Search and Rescue, sets out the basic rules you should follow to help prevent getting lost. There are also guidelines on how to prepare for a tramp, and, if you are lost, how to keep yourself safe until help arrives. Fun activities will help you remember the safety messages. In the story of this book, Sam loves the bush, but knows not to go into it alone. When Tuffy, the dog escapes, Sam rushes in to save him ... and before long, realises he is lost! Suddenly he remembers how dangerous the bush can be, and bit by bit remembers all the rules for survival techniques that his Grandpa Tua taught him, and he must now put into practice. Will this be enough?
