Notes
This book is aimed at the ordinary classroom teacher to give them ‘just enough’ of the skills of specialist teachers and RTLT / RTLit to raise the achievement of priority learners and those whose achievement is a cause for concern. In the climate of ever reducing support and greater pressure on classroom teachers, the book presents strategies which close the gap between reading / writing and equips teachers to take ‘notice and adjust’ action when students are stuck. There is a particular focus on ways to differentiate and accelerate learning for students who do not have formal diagnosis / labels of learning needs but who will benefit when their Aspergers, AD(H)D and/or Dyslexix ‘type’ needs are identified and addressed in the unsupported classroom.Contents
Contents : setting the scene -- total teaching and classroom action -- identifying learning needs -- working memory -- tracking progress -- total teaching for self-directed learning -- confidence and risk taking -- decoding and phonics -- comprehension activities -- reluctant writers -- we need to talk about Gavin : a case study -- total teaching : an international perspective.Additional Info
