Mrs Tiggy-Winkle is a hedgehod washerwoman who lives in a tiny cottage in the fells of the Lake District. A child name Lucie happens upon the cottage when she is looking for her missing pinny and three of her pocket handkins. She stays for tea and then helps deliver the freshly laundered clothing to the animals and birds in the neighbourhood.
