Workbook Stage 1 has been designed to extend and reinforce the beginner reader’s knowledge of the English alphabet and its sounds. It will be most useful for children who have acquired a Sight Vocabulary of 70-100 words. Children need to know that each letter has both a name and a sound. The automatic recognition and recall of the “sound” of each letter will help them become competent and fluent readers through their ability to decode new words.Contents
