At the extreme ends of earth lie frozen and forbidding areas that have fascinated people for hundreds of years. But despite their dramatic appearance of majestic icebergs and amazing landscapes, the Arctic and Antarctic regions are extremely fragile. They, and the diverse wildlife that inhabit these icy environments, are increasingly under threat.
