There is a rock in the sea near the city of Napier, in the Hawkes Bay of New Zealand. This is the legend of how that rock came to be there. Pania, a woman of the sea, comes from the sea and falls in love with Karitoki, a young chief. But Pania returns each day to her home under the sea, and Karitoki tries to stop her.
