Notes
Arnie uses a variety of tools and materials that provide his nervous system with the additional movement, touch, oral, and heavy work input that he needs to be more successful. He also uses tools to limit sound because he is very sensitive to auditory distractions. Arnie is a MOVER. His body needs to move, and his hands need to be busy. He has trouble sitting still in class and paying attention to his teachers. It made school hard and he did not like it much. But that has all changed since his parents and teachers equipped him with simple tools and taught him simple strategies that accommodate his sensory needs. This book creates an environment that is accepting of students with sensory modulation difficulties, including many on the autism spectrum.
